Cerne Abbas, in Dorset, is famous for the Cerne Giant, a large figure carved into the chalk hillside above the village. The Cerne Giant is a 180-foot tall man holding a club, often associated with fertility rites and pagan symbolism.

Cerne Abbas Giant Festival – mid-April to Early May
A community event celebrating the iconic Cerne Giant with guided walks, talks, and workshops exploring the history and folklore surrounding the famous chalk figure.Taking place over several weeks from mid-April to early May, one of the highlights is the May Day procession of Wessex Morris Men through Cerne Abbas village. Cerne Abbas Open Gardens – 15 & 16th June 2024
A popular event where local residents open their private gardens to the public. Visitors can explore the beautiful landscapes and enjoy gardening inspiration.
The proceeds of the Open Gardens are divided equally between a cause in the village and one outside, but preferably one in Dorset. More information.
Cerne Abbas Village Fete – Saturday 6th July 2024
Games, entertainment, and activities for all ages, plus stalls plus sideshows, classic cars, dog show and beer tent. Takes place in St Mary’s Church Vicarage garden and meadow. More information.
Cerne Abbas Music Festival – 12th-14th July 2024
A celebration of music with local and international artists performing classical music to a variety of audiences and across a range of styles and content.
The Festival is based at St. Mary's Church, and booking starts approximately eight weeks before the first concert. More information.
Cerne Abbas Society for Horticulture (CASH) – August 2024
An annual show with flowers, fruit, and vegetables on display and for judging. Cakes and home produce.
