Cerne Giant Festival Fun near Giants Head

Situated close to the iconic figure of the Cerne Abbas Giant, Giants Head caravan park and campsite is the perfect base for discovering the local traditions of Dorset.  The annual Cerne Giant Festival takes place from 18th April to 9th May this year, bringing the region to life with music, dance, and vibrant folklore.  This much-loved annual celebration draws on ancient May Day traditions, when Morris dancers and villagers would meet at the site of the ancient maypole above the Giant.

The Cerne Giant Festival offered something for everyone, welcoming visitors of all ages.  Attendees tried their hand (and feet!) at the "Have a Go" Morris dancing sessions, and learned about the history of this vibrant dance in an engaging talk.  A hands-on workshop offered a behind-the-scenes look at the secrets of the Beltane Brew, and younger visitors enjoyed the Minibeast Safari.  The festival was one of many family-friendly activities taking place near our camping site, offering a wide range of events the whole family could enjoy.
